About Havaianas
Havaianas were introduced in 1962 as a rubber version of the Japanese rice soled shoe, the Zori. To this day they still have their signature rice grain texture on the soles as a tribute to their origins. Growing in popularity in the 70s and 80s, Havaianas pursued aggressive marketing campaigns. As the times changed and their following gained momentum, Havaianas began growing their pallet of colors and adding prints. They've also introduced more body styles so that they would have shoes that also reflected changes in current trends.
In 2003 Havaianas became party of the annual Oscar celebration by giving specially designed shoes to all of the Oscar nominees. Although many Americans have been wearing Havaianas for years, they did not begin to sell in the U.S. until 2007! Since then the majority of Americans have come to love this famous Brazilian brand and appreciate its craftsmanship and quality. This summer staple is well made and comes with a price tag that fits nearly any wallet.
